The Forte has been designed to be Focusrite’s new flagship portable audio interface, and includes the latest in digital conversion technologies, says Focusrite. Watch the video after the jump to learn more about the Focusrite Forte and see it in action.
“Focusrite Forte is a professional 2 in, 4 out portable USB audio interface for Mac and Windows, designed to deliver analogue sources to your DAW at the highest possible quality. It features two remote-controlled mic preamps with the unrivalled sound quality you would expect from Focusrite.”
Advanced Features and Specifications
The Forte is equipped with a colour OLED screen, together with multi-function touch icons, and scroll wheel with DAW control functions. This makes it not only visually appealing but also highly functional, allowing users to easily navigate through settings and controls. The OLED screen provides clear and precise visual feedback, which is crucial during recording sessions.
Other features of the Forte include a 4 x output USB 2.0 audio interface for Mac and PC, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of devices. The mic preamp with a 75dB gain range (0-75dB) performance is particularly noteworthy, as it allows for a wide range of input levels, making it versatile for different recording scenarios. Additionally, the real-world ADC (117dB A-weighted) and DAC (118dB A-weighted) specifications highlight the Forte’s superior audio quality, ensuring that recordings are clear and free from unwanted noise.
Practical Applications and User Experience
The Focusrite Forte is designed for both professional and home studio use. Its portability makes it an excellent choice for musicians and producers who need to record on the go. The robust build quality ensures that it can withstand the rigors of travel, while the high-quality components guarantee top-notch audio performance.
For example, a traveling musician can easily pack the Forte in their bag and set up a recording session in a hotel room or backstage before a performance. The remote-controlled mic preamps allow for precise adjustments without needing to be physically close to the interface, adding to its convenience.
Moreover, the Forte’s integration with popular DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations) like Pro Tools, Logic Pro, and Ableton Live makes it a versatile tool for any recording setup. The scroll wheel with DAW control functions allows users to make quick adjustments to their sessions, improving workflow efficiency.
The Focusrite Forte will be available to purchase from October onwards for around $600 or £399. This price point positions it as a premium product, but given its features and build quality, it offers excellent value for money.
