When it comes to handicaps, technology can be an amazing life-changing thing. Our phones aren’t the only thing that has become smarter. Our clothes have become smarter as well. Designer Halley Profita has come up with a dress called “Flutter”. It could change everything for the hearing impaired.
It allows them to “feel” the sounds of the world around them. It looks like a normal dress, but it has a set of microphones that will pick up sound coming from certain directions and those leaf-like areas of the dress will flutter in the direction of that sound.
It provides an alternative sensory awareness to the wearer of their surroundings. It seems like it could really help hearing impaired people in real world situations.
