Developer Dong Nguyen has kept his promise and Flappy Bird is back. Just in case you were on a desert island, Nguyen created a simple, but highly addictive game, where you control Flappy Bird and try to maneuver the through a series of pipes from Mario Brothers. The game was so popular, that it was soon generating $50,000 a day in ad revenue.
Oddly, that’s when Nguyen pulled the game from all of the app stores, claiming that the game was getting too addictive. Basically, the developer was not ready for the success of the game and it seemed like he freaked out. He promised that it would return, along with a message to users warning them that the game could be addictive.
After months of Flappy Bird withdrawal, now players can at last experience the real thing once again. The game is back, but with a few changes. It is called Flappy Birds ‘Family,’ and the game now offers a two-player mode. New obstacles, like ghosts will be in your way now as you try to keep your bird in the sky.
Here is the bad news part. Right now, Flappy Birds ‘Family’ is only in the Amazon Appstore. It can only be used for the Amazon Fire TV set-top box. The game now supports supports Amazon’s Fire TV remote, and its dedicated video game controller. Players will push a button instead of tapping on a touchscreen to control Flappy Bird. Well,it’s better than nothing I guess. The weird Flappy Bird saga continues.
