If you’ve always wanted one of Vespa’s scooters, you should start saving your money. The company has confirmed that it’s going to launch its first electric scooter next year. So now is a great time to buy one.
It’s been a year since Vespa’s parent company shared the details about the electric scooter concept and now it has confirmed that the electric scooter is going to be released in 2018.
Piaggio says that the Vespa Elettrica is a “contemporary work of art with a technological heart.” The Vespa Elettrica will have a range of about 62 miles, which will vary depending on how the scooter is used in the real world of course. The power unit delivers continuous power of 2 kW and peak power of 4 kW.
The company says that it has performance superior to a traditional 50cc scooter, especially in the acceleration department. There’s a lithium-ion battery that doesn’t require maintenance too. To charge, you just use the cable in the seat compartment and connect the plug to a normal wall-mounted outlet. The scooter can be fully charged in four hours. That’s pretty convenient. The scooter will be available in a special chrome grey finish with metallic reflections. The Vespa Elettrica is going to be distributed around the globe next year, but we don’t know how much the Vespa Elettrica is going to cost just yet.
