Can you believe that it’s been over a decade since Nintendo opened its first retail location in New York City? Time flies when you’re playing Nintendo. The company is now doing something similar for its home country of Japan. Nintendo has confirmed that the company will be opening an official retail store in Tokyo this year. It will be the first store that will be directly managed by Nintendo in Japan.
Nintendo’s Japan location will be in Shibuya Parco which is the new flagship of the parco department store chain. The opening in the fall of 2019 will coincide with the opening of Shibuya Parco.
Nintendo will be selling its products there, like consoles, games, and merchandise. The store will also host events and give visitors an opportunity to check out the games available for its consoles. “We are preparing to make this store, which will be a new base for communicating Nintendo information in Japan, an enjoyable place for a wide range of consumers,” Nintendo says.
Obviously, it will be a big hit in Japan since that is the birthplace of Nintendo. They may even open more stores if the first one is a hit. I’m sure it will be.
