Fire TV devices now have access to live television services, and Amazon wants to be sure you know it, no matter what services you might prefer. Amazon is rolling out a dedicated Live tab that showcases whatever’s playing across several apps, whether it’s a free offering like Pluto TV, PlayStation Vue or an over-the-air broadcast picked up through a Fire TV Recast. You certainly have plenty of options.
The section includes rows that highlight your recent channels and individual genres, but now include things like live news and sports. If you want to, you can favorite channels to make sure they take priority in any given row. This new section should make people happy who enjoy live content.
This new tab will reach all American Fire TV users over the next several days as it rolls out and becomes live. It’s not a channel guide, so it won’t replace the browsing experience you might be used to from typical TV. However, this might work for you if you’re a cord-cutter who can’t wait for an on-demand video to start watching. It is a great move by Amazon, as it should make live content easier to find for those cutting cable. Good move Amazon.
