Frontwire Studios is working a Battlefield 3 remake titled Galaxy in Turmoil, and it has confirmed that Valve has agreed to host the game on Steam. You might think that the developer would be concerned about Disney sending a cease and desist order to shut things down, but they are not concerned.
Frontwire president Tony Fergie Romanelli confirmed in a statement that the studio has officially signed a distribution deal with Valve/Steam for the game Galaxy in Turmoil. So it has decided to ship Galaxy in Turmoil to millions of Steam users for free. That should ease any concerns. They hope.
Galaxy in Turmoil does not hide the fact that this is Star Wars and so Disney has every right to come down hard on Frontwire Studios, even if it is free. Romanelli says that he has been concerned about this from time to time, but mentions that “Valve clearly lacks that same concern,” and that by publishing Galaxy in Turmoil the company is assisting Frontwire in growing and ensuring the longevity of its Battlefront 3 remake project. Let’s hope that Disney feels okay about all of this.
Look for Galaxy in Turmoil on Steam soon. It runs on Unreal Engine 4 so it will look great.
