Yesterday it was discovered thanks to references found in Apple’s tvOS platform, that Epic’s Fortnite Battle Royale could be headed onto the Apple TV. For many fans this was exciting news as it would let Apple TV owners enjoy the game on the big screen if they don’t own any gaming console.
However, fans may have gotten excited a bit too quickly. Epic’s Senior PR Nick Chester has since come forward and put an end to this speculation, denying that Fortnite will be coming to the Apple TV. Chester says, “Epic isn’t planning to bring Fortnite to Apple TV. References to tvOS in the Fortnite files are the result of general Unreal Engine support for the Apple TV platform.”
This is bound to sadden some fans of the game and it sounds like a very definitive answer. It is what it is. There are no plans for Fortnite on the Apple TV. Some are asking why not, since Fortnite has been ported to pretty much every platform out there. Well, most people who want to play it already own the platforms at this point, so it makes sense.
There is really no reason for the game to arrive on Apple TV.
