While eBay transitions to a non-PayPal payment system, it’s exploring other payment systems. In fact, eBay has confirmed that it will soon start accepting Apple Pay. Apple’s mobile payments service is used by many many people who own Apple products. Apple Pay will be one of the first payment options of its kind for eBay and it will allow customers to pay for goods through the eBay website on Safari or by using its mobile app.
Yiu may have heard that eBay and PayPal split in 2015 and the eBay revealed that it would move to an integrated payment system developed by Adyen. It’s a back-end service which means that eBay will be able to offer different checkout options. Apple Pay will be one of many checkout options that eBay will eventually add to the payment system.
Apple Pay will first be available as a payment option to a small group of Marketplace customers who will get the chance to participate in the first phase of the payment service’s rollout on eBay. eBay will expand it over time so that all of its users can pay with Apple Pay.
We can expect Apple Pay to be available to select Marketplace customers starting this fall in fact.
