Not long after Dead Space 3 was released, rumors began about Dead Space 4, suggesting that it would be canceled due to the third installments poor sales. At the time EA responded saying “the franchise remains an important IP to EA.”
Not important enough it seems. Well, EA executive Patrick Söderlund confirmed in an interview with Eurogamer that Dead Space developer Visceral Games isn’t currently working on the game’s sequel. Söderlund says that the development studio is “working on something else very exciting.”
We have no details about what that might be, but he says that he believes Visceral Games needed a break from Dead Space in order to get their creativity back. A break is never a bad thing. It might be just what is needed for some fresh thinking.
