The Sony DualShock 4 for the PS4 comes with an LED light in the back. It turns out that some players are complaining that the LED light drains battery life and can prove distracting also since the LED light can reflect off the television in low-light situations. Uh-oh. Better turn it off.
Wait. You cant. According to Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida, disabling it is out of the question, for now. Yoshida says that it does not drain very much battery so it should not reduce the DualShock 4’s battery life by much. I think gamers know better dude. Many thought that the LED light on the controller was meant to be used with the PlayStation Camera, but apparently that is no longer true.
The LED lights allow PS4 gamers to sign in automatically, and will be able to associate the correct color with the correct gamer tag. In games like Killzone: Shadow Fall, the LED lights can be used to show the player’s health. It would be handy if you could disable it completely though. Someone will probably find a way to get rid of it safely. It just takes getting annoyed one too many times.
