How many ten-year old games do you still itch to play? Well, here is one that is making its way to mobile devices with an optimized experience. Dragon Quest VIII.
Square Enix has officially announced that Dragon Quest VIII has been released for iOS and Android. This comes after the game showed up on the New Zealand iTunes store. It was a popular Japanese role-playing game released for the Playstation 2 in 2004. That’s like 100 years in internet years. It is being released almost 10 years after its release in North America. This is great news for fans.
Square Enix says that the controls are now streamlined and that it has been optimized for both smartphones and tablets. It also has the ability for players to change the position of the directional pad to allow for one-handed play styles. We also know that the game plays in portrait mode rather than in landscape like most mobile titles. The combat system now gives you the option to have one-tap battles as well as some more complex play. The tension system is still there to boost character attacks, and so is the alchemy pot for creating new items. This should be a real treat to play after so many years.
