The Dragon Quest name is recognized around the world and the game has an amazing number of fans. However, Japan is where it comes from and that’s where most of the fans live. That is why the first eight Dragon Quest games are being ported to mobile platforms and Android and iOS devices will be able to play them all. In Japan anyway.
Now the Dragon Quest series is about to get its own branded smartphone in the SH-01F smartphone, manufactured by Sharp. It is a variant of the Aquos Phone Zeta. Features include a 5-inch 1080 x 1920 resolution touchscreen display, a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor, 3,000mAh battery, and a 15.9 megapixel camera on the back. The front has a 2.1 megapixel camera. It will run Android 4.2 and is waterproof, too.
The Dragon Quest branding is nicely done on the back of the device, with the silver color called Metal Slime and several characters, along with the Square Enix logo. A free copy of Dragon Quest VIII comes preinstalled on the device. We have no info on price or availability yet, but we know it has a December launch. NTT DoCoMo is only going to offer 30,000 of them, so they will be hard to get. Dragon Quest fans will want to get one as quick as they can.
