Domino’s has been running a weird Ferris Bueller’s Day Off ad campaign with Stranger Things actor Joe Keery in case you didn’t know. This attempt to tie itself with classic film has met with some criticism, however, so it’s taking another rout.
It will be offering fans the entire movie for free on Facebook Live, on June 11th at 7 PM EDT.
The ad campaign is weird though. It features Alan Ruck, the actor who played Cameron Frye, but Domino’s wasn’t allowed to mention the name “Ferris Bueller”. Then there’s the fact that Matthew Broderick didn’t participate. A Bueller-type character (played by Keery) appears to be Frye’s son, so we’re not sure what the hell is actually going on. Good job Domino’s.
So offering the film for free seems like the thing to do at this point. It is a strange way to sell pizza that’s for sure. Domino’s will share a code at the beginning of the film that’s worth a 20 percent discount, or more if enough people watch. Of course, there’s nothing to stop you from enjoying the free movie, and getting a pizza from anywhere else. Again, good job Domino’s. Seems like this wasn’t a great idea huh?
