In the second bit of Dominos Pizza news that we covered today, the company has updated their app. That should help them stay near the top as the pizza wars rage, unseen around us, but smelled by all. Now you can place the order with your voice. Dominos Pizza recently announced that they have updated their iOS and Android apps.
The update introduces Nuance voice recognition software to the app, so if you want to place an order, you will be able to do it using your voice, just like you would if you were going to order a pizza using the phone. Nuance says, “The platform, in partnership with Nuance, will redefine technology convenience – and puts Domino’s at the forefront of an intuitive ordering method that is a true first within both traditional and e-commerce retail.”
Imagine that. Using your voice to order a pizza. We truly are in the 21st century. Sarcasm. While this is an interesting idea, will it cause more trouble then it is worth? What I mean is that placing an order online or via the app makes sure they get it right. What if they mishear you? Oh well. Nuance is hoping that with the addition of voice recognition, it will translate to increased convenience, which hopefully will translate into more sales. We will have to see.
