Domino’s is doing their part to make pizza delivery cooler. They are working with some industry partners to create custom pizza delivery vehicles based on the Chevrolet Spark. These Spark cars are called the “DXP”, which stands for Domino’s Delivery Expert.
They hope that these cars will be the ultimate delivery vehicle. They will sure get people’s attention. Domino’s calls them the “first purpose-built vehicle aimed at revolutionizing pizza delivery.” It will make things easier on drivers, and make sure your pizza is delivered hot and in a timely manner.
These vehicles are the result of a collaboration between General Motors, Roush Enterprises, and Domino’s. They spent three years on the development of this model, so they are very serious about this. 100 units will be produced for Domino’s stores in 25 cities in the US. It won’t be long until you see them on a road near you. The car started as a crowdsourced design challenge called the Domino’s Ultimate Delivery Vehicle Challenge. 385 entries later and a concept involving the Chevy Spark was created.
The car has a warming oven behind the driver’s door and storage areas for pizzas. The driver can put a pair of Heatwave pizza bags in the warming oven, then open it using the key fob.
80 pizzas is a lot to hold, but this car manages it. It even has a “puddle light” that will project the company’s logo onto the ground. Look for it in Seattle, San Diego, Houston, Detroit, Boston, and other major cities.
