Disney has not only acquired Fox, but has also obtained full control of Hulu, another video streaming service. Obviously, the company has been making some big moves to bring everything under their umbrella, and the latest casualty in this strategy is FX Plus.
It has been announced that starting on August 20th, 2019, FX Plus will no longer be available. It was previously launched under Comcast and gave users access to several shows under the FX banner ad-free for just $5.99 a month. Current seasons of these shows are still expected to continue to air on FX and FXX of course.
FX Networks said, “We deeply appreciate every fan of FX original series who subscribed to our service, and we are more optimistic and excited than ever about FX’s future as a key brand supporting the strategic priorities of The Walt Disney Company.” Disney is expected to distribute FX programming through Hulu, which is why they are shutting this service down. Again, getting all of their things under one umbrella.
If you don’t live in the US and want access to these shows, Disney had previously said that they plan to bring Hulu to international markets. We don’t know when this might happen.
