urely robots wouldn’t come for our dishwashing jobs. That can’t happen. Right? Wrong. Dishcraft thinks that they can make the entire process faster and more efficient than when humans do it. The company has recently unveiled a new robot dishwasher that can help to clean large volumes of plates in commercial kitchens. Sorry dishwashers, your jobs are not safe either.
All humans need to do is have the plates stacked on a special cart which is then wheeled into the kitchen to the robot. From there, the robot will be able to pick the plates up, turn them upside down, and will use hot and cold water and a brush to clean the surface of these plates.
One of the differences between this system and a regular dishwasher is that it will use AI-guided cameras that can “inspect” the plates to see if they might need another scrub. While there is no doubt that this method is more efficient, it does spell bad news for people who are working as dishwashers.
I guess you could always go back into the kitchen and kick the robot until it breaks, getting your job back, but the thing probably has cameras and will tattle on you.
