It looks like the rumors were correct. Earlier this year, rumors swirled about Dell’s plan to end its smartphone business. Today, the company is confirming it.
Jeff Clarke, the Vice Chairman and President of Dell’s Global Operations and End User Computing Solutions, said that Dell has no plans of building smartphones. Instead, they will focus on the PC industry since PCs are still the preferred devices among many professionals and because they drive “productivity and content creation.”
Clarke also said that the bring-your-own-device business policy and cloud computing trends have led to a “blurring of the distinction between personal devices and professional devices,”. That creates new opportunities for Dell in the end user computing space. Hopefully they use this to innovate.
