Dell unveiled the updated model of the company’s Precision M3800 mobile workstation at the Sundance Film Festival. It is a 15-inch M3800 designed with ISV-certifications for video editors, graphic designers, and other high-demand users.
The M3800 is available right now from Dell’s online store if you are in the market for a new mobile workstation and have the money. The new M3800 includes some options that have been requested by users, like a 4K Ultra HD touch display and a new Ubuntu-based developer edition.
The developer edition is the first model created directly with feedback from the developer community. Windows 7 or 8.1 are also available. Another nice feature is a Thunderbolt 2 port by Intel, which will give you transfer speeds of up to 20Gbps in either direction. Dell also says that it allows editing of raw 4K video while backing up the same file, in parallel. Nice!
It comes with 2TB of internal storage, weighs 4.15 pounds in the default configuration, and is 0.71 (18 mm) inches thick. Inside you will find an Intel Core i7 quad-core processor, Nvidia Quadro K1 100M graphics, and 16GB of memory. The Dell Precision M3800 starts at $1,700. So, what do you think? Is this what you were looking for?
