Microsoft has a bunch of good games that are ready to roll out for its Xbox One console, but if you live in Germany, you will not be getting Dead Rising 3. The reason? Germany’s BPjM (Bundeprüfstelle für jugendgefährende Medien), or the Federal Department for Media Harmful to Young Persons has banned the sale of Capcom’s Dead Rising 3.
This is no big surprise to gamers in that region. The previous two titles in the Dead Rising series were also banned in the country. Microsoft has to be disappointed with this decision, but by now they are probably used to it. And besides, the success of the Xbox One in Germany does not hinge on a single title. Even so, it is too bad that those people can’t police themselves and decide if they want to play the game or not.
The BPjM panel often bans console and PC games that they feel are too violent and would promote violence. It’s nice for us to live in a country where we can choose for ourselves and not be told what we can and can’t play on a console. Imagine living in Germany. It must stink to be a gamer there.
