David Letterman has been in retirement for a couple of years after he gave up his decades-old network talk show host job. But a guy like him can never really retire.
The former talk show host’s new show is going to be a Netflix exclusive. He has signed a new deal with the online streaming giant for a show which will consist of six hour-long episodes.
Fans will be glad to have him back. He’s been involved with late night television for 33 years, hosting 6,028 episodes of Late Night and The Late Show (CBS). In fact, he’s the longest-running late-night broadcaster in American history. However, the format of David Letterman’s new show on Netflix will be slightly different than his previous gig. The six hour-long episodes will feature a single guest so it’s going to be kind of a long-form interview, one on one type show.
Letterman will leave the studio on occasion to explore topics and issues out in the field. The new show on Netflix doesn’t have a name yet but we’ll find that out closer to its premiere date in 2018. It will be good to see him back on TV. Letterman says: “Here’s what I have learned, if you retire to spend more time with your family, check with your family first.”
