Customers love shopping on Amazon during the holidays. Amazon says that Cyber Monday was its biggest shopping day ever. Before that, Prime Day in July of this year was its largest shopping event. In fact, over the five days from Thanksgiving to Monday, Amazon customers bought more than 180 million items from its online store as they took advantage of many deals.
Amazon didn’t reveal how many products it sold on Cyber Monday or how much revenue it generated over the holiday period. But we do have a few details from the successful weekend. It looks like shoppers bought four million electronics and toys through the Amazon app on Black Friday, underscoring the fact that a third of online purchases that day took place through mobile.
They also revealed that the latest Echo Dot was the best-selling item overall worldwide, and Amazon also claims it sold millions of its own devices, but they don’t break down the numbers for us. Amazon also says that people used Alexa to create almost twice as many timers than any other day in 2018. The most popular name for the timers? Turkey, naturally.
So Amazon has had a great week with their biggest shopping day ever. I wonder if they can beat it next year.
