Well, it looks like whatever changes Amazon is making to comiXology, its users aren’t happy about it. The proof is in the App Store ratings. Users have started to flood the ratings with 1-star. Yep. People are pretty mad right now. One of the changes to the comiXology app was the removal of the in-app purchase feature from the app.
Customers now have to go to the comiXology website to set up an account, link it to their credit card, and purchase it on the website before downloading it onto their iPhones or iPads. This is thought to be because Amazon doesn’t want to pay Apple 30% of comiXology’s in-app purchases. That is understandable, but a mistake. By removing the feature, they basically turned the app into an e-reader. That isn’t what users signed up for.
According to the comments, they also removed some of the more convenient features that users have come to know and love. They don’t want what they are left with. The app also saw some users missing their previous purchases and were unable to restore them. Some of the users have spent hundreds of dollars only to find their collection missing. They are justifiably upset. We will have to see how Amazon handles all of this outrage.
