Here’s an interesting use of Facebook’s likes. Brazilian fashion retailer C&A recently has set up a dedicated Facebook page with pictures of its clothes on display. The “Likes” of page visitors are recorded and displayed in real-time on specially designed clothes-hangers at the brand’s store.
This allows shoppers to see the online popularity of a particular outfit, helping them make a better (or at least more popular) choice while picking out clothes. It’s an interesting idea. One that you can easily see more retailers implementing with more than just clothes.
Of course this doesn’t exactly help people be individuals and make individual choices. But it is a novel use of Facebook that is helping the store make lots of sales and get lots of press.
