It may come as a surprise to you, but until now it has been impossible to pause and resume downloads on Chrome for Android. This functionality is already available for Chrome on other platforms and now it has arrived on the Android app.
The built-in download manager in Android OS is not able to pause or resume downloads, but it will now. The ability to do this has been added to Chrome and it is about time. The feature is included in the latest developer release of this browser. Some of you may have never even noticed that this feature was missing, but if you did notice and wanted the feature, this will be good news.
If you want the feature right now you will first have to install the Chrome Dev build on your handset. Since the Dev build is a work in progress it usually comes with a few bugs. The device also needs to be running Marshmallow for the feature to work, but that update hasn’t been widely released for supported devices just yet. It’s only a matter of time before a stable version is released that brings this feature to all users. I’m not sure why it took so long.
