The rumor is that Nintendo is working on a cheaper version of the Nintendo Switch for the fall of 2019. These rumors have since been “confirmed” by a report from Bloomberg who claims that the cheaper version of the Switch may actually be launched by the end of June of 2019.
That makes sense since E3 2019 is taking place in June. That would be a good time for Nintendo to make some kind of announcement at their presentation where the console would then launch a few weeks later. The cheaper Switch will focus more on portability.
The console will not be dockable, so you won’t be able to connect it to a TV like the current Switch and the Joy-Con controllers aren’t removable. So this would fill the role of a 3DS console in the current generation if all this is true.
Still, take it with a grain of salt for now since it isn’t officially confirmed. Along with a cheaper Switch, Nintendo could also be launching a new upgraded model later in the year, but we’ll just have to wait and see what happens. It looks like Nintendo has a lot going on this year for fans to get excited about.
