Caterpillar has unveiled the Cat B100. This new rugged feature phone is available immediately in Europe. Other markets can expect this new model in the first half of 2014. When we say rugged we mean rugged.

It is IP67 certified and offers MIL 810G protection. This means that the phone is protected completely against dust, and can survive immersion at depths down to 3 feet. Of course it will also cope well with drops, extreme changes in temperature and other things that would normally kill your average expensive phone.

The CAT B100 has a 2.2 inch 240 x 320 display and runs a custom OS. It has a 3MP camera on board, and even though it has very little native memory, the device does take microSD cards as high as 32GB. The dimensions measure 123 x 56 x 17.5mm and it weighs 136g. Needless to say, this is not a phone for the average user, but rather for the user who is working in extreme conditions and needs a phone that will survive some abuse. For instance, it is a great phone to use on construction sites. This phone is one tough customer and will survive the rigors it is put through.
