The image you see here is of a case allegedly made for the HTC M8, and listed online. It is very telling in that it reveals an opening for a fingerprint scanner. The M8 is believed to be the code name for the upcoming successor to the HTC One Android flagship phone. While the HTC One does not have a fingerprint sensor, the phablet-sized HTC One max does.
Based on what we can gather from the leaked case, the fingerprint scanner will be on the back, above the camera, and users will have to swipe their finger across the glass on the back. That is similar to the scanner on the HTC One max. However, HTC One max users claim that having the fingerprint scanner on the back makes using it pretty difficult, so we will see how that goes.
To refresh your memory, latest rumored specs for the M8, which is expected to be named the HTC One+, includes a 5 inch screen with a 1080 x 1920 resolution, and a quad-core 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU. We can expect to see 2GB of RAM on board, 16GB of native storage inside and a microSD slot for more storage. A 2900mAh battery juices it all up. Android 4.4 is pre-installed.
The HTC One+ should arrive in March after being unveiled at next month’s MWC in Barcelona.
