Deadpool was an amazing hit at the box office, exceeding expectations and quickly becoming the top-grossing film in the United States so far this year. I think that everyone saw Deadpool. And it kept it’s spot despite movies like Batman v Superman, The Jungle Book, and Zootopia. None of them could touch it. Well, Deadpool has finally met it’s match now that Captain America: Civil War has become the top-grossing film in 2016.
Numbers from Box Office Mojo show that Captain America: Civil War is now the top-grossing film of the year in North America with $372.6 million. Wow! Good job Cap! You emerged victorious against the merc with the mouth.
Deadpool is in second place now with $362.8 million. Deadpool remains the highest-grossing R-rated movie though and the highest-grossing X-Men film, so Deadpool still has bragging rights about those areas.
Captain America: Civil War has been doing great around the world, grossing more than $1.1 billion worldwide, while Deadpool is trailing with $736 million worldwide. Deadpool isn’t finished though. It’s figures will increase when the movie opens in Japan on June 1st. Congratulations to both movies. I doubt we will see another movie overtake these in 2016. What would it be? I just can’t see it.
