Microsoft is currently remastering the first Gears of War title for Xbox One and while it won’t be remastering all of the previous titles for the console, Xbox One owners will still be able to play all of the past games in the series. You might remember that Microsoft announced that backwards compatibility is coming to Xbox One and this feature will allow owners of the console to play previous Gears of War titles.
If you purchase Gears of War: Ultimate Edition or the Xbox One Gears of War: Ultimate Edition Bundle, you will be able to unlock the entire Gears collection through backwards compatibility on Xbox One. So you can play all of the past games in the franchise. How cool is that?
Playing Gears of War: Ultimate Edition on Xbox Live from August 21st through December 31st will give you access to Gears of War, Gears of War 2, Gears of War 3 and Gears of War: Judgment when the compatibility feature launches this fall. That is some awesome news for fans of the franchise.
Furthermore all Gears of War titles will be supported on backwards compatibility when it launches publicly this fall, so if you currently own these titles on Xbox 360 you will be able to play them on the Xbox One.
