Blizzard is known to be strict when it comes to cheaters in their games. If you don’t play by the rules, you are out. Banned. That’s all she wrote. However, recently there has been a bug in Overwatch that has caused quite a few innocent gamers to get banned.
Blizzard has identified the issue and has since announced that they’ll be working on a fix for the bug and will be removing seasonable bans from players affected by the bug. The last thing they want is innocent players getting banned.
“We recently identified a bug that, in extremely rare cases, can cause players to lose their skill rating progress and receive a seasonal ban from Competitive Play without any prior penalties for leaving early or being kicked for inactivity.”
“In the meantime, we’ll be removing the seasonal ban for all players affected by this bug as well as restoring their skill rating. To date, this bug has impacted fewer than 200 accounts, but we’ll continue to monitor for additional occurrences and provide assistance until we can implement a permanent fix.” Blizzard does not have an ETA for when this bug will be fixed, but in the meantime gamers who are affected by this should have their bans reversed. It’s good of Blizzard to get on this fast.
