Blizzard Entertainment has been creating great games for years and now hot on the heels of the announcement that Diablo III will be headed to the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, they’re announcing a free-to-play game called Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft.
The game will be shown at a PAX East panel this weekend. Hearthstone will be an online free-to-play collectible card game, similar to Magic: The Gathering, for the PC and Mac in beta form this summer. It will be available for the iPad soon after.
Players can create their individual decks, buy booster packs and even make new cards by combining existing ones. New players will have guidance and deck-building tools that will suggest or automatically select cards for them. Dueling against other players will be through Blizzard’s Battle.net matchmaking system, with duels focusing on 1-on-1 battles. This sounds pretty sweet. I can’t wait to hear more.
