Did you get your copy of Bioshock Infinite today or yesterday? One of the bonuses of completing the game is unlocking the BioShock Infinite’s 1999 Mode, which is an ultra hard setting for those who love a challenge.
1999 Mode is named after the release year of the game System Shock 2. It turns out that several employees of Irrational Games worked on that game. Just like in system shock 2, 1999 Mode will force the player to make decisions about specializations that cannot be reversed and could even make certain parts of the game unbeatable.
Here is the good news. You don’t have to complete BioShock Infinite to unlock the mode. Irrational has included the well-known Konami Code. From the main menu you can enter the following and the 1999 Mode will appear as an option: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A (or O, X on PS3). So get playing. Good luck.
