The last time we saw a new BioShock game, it was way back in 2013 when 2K Games launched BioShock Infinite. It was not a direct sequel to BioShock 2, but it existed in the same universe and offered up a similar playstyle. However, the good news is that if you’re looking forward to a direct sequel to BioShock 2, you could be in luck very soon.

According to Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of 2K Games, during the company’s earnings call, CEO Strauss Zelnick hinted that they could be announcing BioShock 3 in the near future. Zelnick was quoted as saying that gamers could expect “sequels from our biggest franchises as well as exciting new IP”.
While there is no direct mention of BioShock 3, it makes sense. Red Dead Redemption 2 was released not too long ago, which leaves other franchises like Grand Theft Auto and BioShock. Back in 2015, 2K reassured fans that BioShock would be a permanent franchise so gamers don’t need to worry about the company forgetting or abandoning it. Now it seems this is true.
There was also a report from 2018 that hinted that a new BioShock game was in development. Hopefully, it will be announced soon. Fans of this franchise are waiting. It’s been awhile.
