Brick and mortar stores are having a tough time thanks to competitors like Amazon, who offer cheap and speedy delivery of goods. In some cases they offer same-day delivery. Sometimes within one-hour.
So in an effort to keep up with the competition, Best Buy is testing a same-day delivery service with the help of delivery service Deliv. This delivery service is currently being tested in San Francisco.
Same-day delivery will cost Best Buy customers the same amount as one-day business express shipping. The company is marketing the service to online shoppers as an alternative to its in-store pickup option. Honestly, this should go a long way toward helping Best Buy’s bottom line. Many people hate going into stores and shopping for their item when they can just have it quickly without stepping foot in a store.
It will be interesting to see whether people in San Fransico will continue to collect their goods from a physical store when they can now get their items delivered to them. I guess we will have to see how it all works out. I’m guessing it will be great for the company. It seems like a no-brainer. Give people more options and they will shop with you.
