Quick question. How many of you bought your current phone at Best Buy? Well, of course many of you did. According to Consumer Intelligence Research Partners, 12% of U.S. smartphone sales are happening at Best Buy.
The stats also show that there are just a bit more iOS devices sold at Best Buy compared to Android devices. Also, the retailer sells more basic phones than BlackBerry handsets. And were you aware that roughly 15% of AT&T’s sales are conducted by Best Buy as opposed to 10% of Verizon’s sales that are handled by Best Buy? Sprint comes in with a little over 14% of its sales made at Best Buy, and T-Mobile has just under 14% of its phone sales from the retailer.
And in case you were interested, Verizon makes the largest of its phone sales in-house, with 57% of its phone sales at its own stores. Sprint comes next, with just over 50% of its phone sales made in Sprint stores and T-Mobile is third with just under 50%. AT&T is last with 47% of its own smartphone sales. I bet the number of Best Buys sales double by next year. People just love the store and they can shop for many things at the same time.
