The standalone Batman movie has been a confusing mess as far as who will star in it, who will direct it, and more. There was also the question of who would play Batman. Ben Affleck seemed to be a bit uncertain about his future as the caped crusader and we didn’t have any other names.
If you were a fan of Ben Affleck’s portrayal of Batman, it looks like it might have been confirmed that Affleck will be stepping down in his role as Batman. In a report from Deadline, they have learned that Affleck will no longer be playing Batman in the upcoming standalone movie directed by Matt Reeves.
The movie at least finally has a release date set for 2021 where it is expected to focus on a younger Bruce Wayne. Reeves took over the position as director, but previously Affleck himself was said to be directing the movie and also starring in it. I guess that is no longer the case now though.
Right now it is unclear who will be playing Bruce Wayne/Batman, but I personally would like to see Jon Ham in the role. I guess we will find out soon enough. We need a Batman.
