Barbra Streisand is a legend in the music industry. And like so many, she is a legend in her own mind as well. In an interview with NPR, Streisand talked about the horror of Siri not being able to pronounce her name correctly.
So naturally, this was so Earth shattering that she called Tim Cook to look into it. Because stuff like that is really important.
Streisand might be a difficult name even for some humans so we can understand why a digital personal assistant like Siri could be doing it wrong. Also, if she were as important as she thinks she is, Siri probably would have figured it out. Siri was probably like, “Streisand who?”
Apparently, Siri was pronouncing the second “s” in her name with a “z” sound when in fact the second “s” in her name should be soft. For some reason this troubled the star and she decided to take matters into her own hands.
“What did I do? I called the head of Apple, Tim Cook,” she said in the interview, “And he delightfully agreed to have Siri change the pronunciation of my name finally with the next update on September 30.” Good for you Babs. Maybe next time you can focus on something important.
