Remember when Star Wars came back to theaters in 1997 for its 20th anniversary? Fun times. Well Back to the Future will be re-released for its own 30th anniversary this year. This means that on the 21st of October, 2015, throughout the United States the original Back to the Future will be coming to a theater near you. Great scott!
While it’s possible they might deliver the entire trilogy at one time, it looks like each film will be released separately, for separate showings with separate tickets. I mean, that way they can charge more. Makes sense if you are them.
Where the 20th Anniversary re-release of the Star Wars films was a special edition, this Back to the Future theater release will NOT have any new footage or effects. The prints were cleaned up, but that’s about it. No edits or digital replacements of characters here. Just the fun movies that we love, unaltered, with everything intact. I call that good news.
Also, Universal Music Enterprises will be releasing an “all-new 30th Anniversary picture disc vinyl soundtrack”, headed to stores on the 16th of October. Serious fans will want to get their hands on that one. Go Huey Lewis fans!
