Asus’s second generation Transformer tablet, the Eee Pad Transformer Prime, will go on sale in December, and the device is now available to pre-order in Germany from Amazon.
As a reminder, the Transformer Prime comes with a 10.1-inch LED backlit Super IPS+ touchscreen display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. It will launch with Android Honeycomb 3.2, although it will be upgraded to Android 4.0 ICS shortly after release.
Powerful Performance with NVIDIA Tegra 3
The Transformer Prime features NVIDIA’s new quad-core Tegra 3 processor, which is designed to deliver high performance and efficiency. This processor is complemented by an NVIDIA GeForce GPU, ensuring that the tablet can handle demanding graphics tasks with ease. Additionally, the device includes a 5th companion core that is optimized for low power usage, making it ideal for tasks that do not require full processing power, such as background applications and standby mode. This combination of cores ensures that the Transformer Prime offers both power and efficiency, making it suitable for a wide range of applications from gaming to productivity.
The tablet also comes with 1GB of RAM, which supports smooth multitasking and quick app launches. Users can choose between two storage options: 32GB or 64GB of built-in storage. This ample storage capacity allows users to store a significant amount of data, including apps, photos, videos, and documents.
Connectivity and Camera Features
Other specifications include Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, ensuring that users can stay connected to the internet and other devices with ease. The inclusion of Bluetooth 2.1+EDR allows for faster data transfer rates and improved connectivity with Bluetooth-enabled devices such as headphones, speakers, and keyboards.
The Transformer Prime also comes equipped with two cameras. Up front, there is a 1.2-megapixel camera designed for video chat, making it easy to stay in touch with friends and family through video calls. On the back, the tablet features an 8-megapixel camera with an F2.4 aperture lens, a flash, and auto-focus capabilities. This rear camera is capable of capturing high-quality photos and videos, making it a versatile tool for photography enthusiasts. The F2.4 aperture lens allows for better performance in low-light conditions, ensuring that users can take clear and bright photos even in challenging lighting situations.
In addition to its impressive hardware, the Transformer Prime is expected to receive software updates that will enhance its functionality. The upgrade to Android 4.0 ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) will bring a host of new features and improvements, including a more intuitive user interface, better multitasking capabilities, and enhanced performance. This update will ensure that the Transformer Prime remains competitive and up-to-date with the latest advancements in the Android ecosystem.
The Transformer Prime’s design also deserves mention. It features a sleek and slim profile, making it highly portable and easy to carry around. The tablet’s build quality is robust, with a premium finish that gives it a sophisticated look and feel. The Super IPS+ display not only offers vibrant colors and sharp images but also provides excellent visibility in bright outdoor conditions, making it ideal for use on the go.
Overall, the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime is a powerful and versatile tablet that offers a range of features designed to meet the needs of both casual users and tech enthusiasts.
