Everyone thinks their own platform is better. The Xbox rules. No, the PS4 rules. Everyone is loyal to their own console and thinks theirs is better. Though it does seem like the PS4 has an advantage. It seems like games for the PS4 have higher resolutions compared to the Xbox One.
This brings us to some controversy that is brewing regarding the upcoming game Assassin’s Creed Unity. Ubisoft Montreal producer, Vincent Pontbriand, told the Video Gamer that they would be maintaining a resolution of 900p and a framerate of 30fps for both the Xbox One and PS4 version of the game.
The thing is, Pontbriand’s quote of “We decided to lock them at the same specs to avoid all the debates and stuff” has drawn some rage from gamers who felt that Ubisoft was intentionally lowering the specs. Though Ubisoft did release a statement denying that they are doing anything of the sort.
“To set the record straight, we did not lower the specs for Assassin’s Creed Unity to account for any one system over the other.” They also say, “Over the past 4 years, we have created Assassin’s Creed Unity to attain the tremendous level of quality we have now achieved on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. It’s a process of building up toward our goals, not scaling down, and we’re proud to say that we have reached those goals on all SKUs.”
So are you convinced or do you think that they are lowering specs just to even the playing field? There are other games from Ubisoft, like Watch Dogs, that have resolutions of 900p on the PS4 while having a resolution of 729p on the Xbox One for instance.
