It’s only been around for a short time, but already Apex Legends has cheaters. That is typical for any game these days. But Respawn wants to be sure they don’t become too much of a problem. So the studio has dropped some hints that it’s incorporating a cheat reporting tool in its battle royale shooter. They are calling it a “very good idea” in a community update. Many players would likely agree with them.
Right now, anyone spotting a cheat has to go through a website and record their own evidence if they can. If they can’t, they have to report someone’s ID and simply hope for the best.
The company has already been taking action though. It had already banned 16,000 cheaters as of February 15th. That’s just a drop in the bucket when there are more than 25 million total players. So it doesn’t want to let the issue get out of hand. Too many cheaters can spoil a battle royale game and even hurt its long-term prospects. In this case, Apex is not even a month old so it pays to get ahead of the problem now. It means better game experiences for all at the end of the day.
