It looks like Titanfall developer, Respawn, might have a new hit game in the form of Apex Legends. The game has managed to get millions of players over the course of just days, but it seems that they might have broken a record previously set by Fortnite Battle Royale. Yes, I would say that people are all over this game.
According to Twitch tracker Gamolco, Apex Legends has managed to beat Fortnite’s record for single-day Twitch viewing. On February 12th, the tracker found that there were about 8.4 million hours of matches being watched. This is versus Fortnite during Season 5’s launch which clocked 7.2 million hours.
Fortnite is currently the king of battle royale games. It has also become a cultural phenomenon as well. However so far reviews of Apex Legends are also very positive which could potentially give Fortnite some serious competition.
But does it have the same staying power as Fortnite? That remains to be seen. Apex Legends was launched by EA and Respawn and is a spin-off of the Titanfall franchise. Respawn seems pretty invested in it as the developer had previously stated that they do not have plans to launch a Titanfall 3 anytime soon. Things could get tough for Fortnite.
