Geniatech, a Shenzhen-based electronics company has launched a new Android TV set top box which has been designed to bring Android 2.2 Froyo to your HDTV. But dont confuse this new device with Google TV which is complete different system all together.
The new Android TV device is powered by an Amlogic 1GHz Coretex A9 CPU, and offers 512MB of RAM, 2GB of internal storage, up to 32GB of SD storage, as well as a USB port for connecting an external USB hard drive.
The neat little Android TV set top box connects to your LAN via WiFi and features digital TV, Internet TV, web browser, music/picture player, IM and SMS apps. Android TV as would be expected can connect to the Android Market, providing you with access to thousands of additional apps that can be loaded on to the device to provide games and additional functionality.
Android TV is currently making its way through the FCC unfortunately no information on pricing or worldwide availability has been released as yet, but as soon as it becomes available we will let you know.
