Microsoft likes to remind us constantly that the Xbox One is a powerful console. And about how it is better at providing entertainment options, with features like OneGuide which allows Xbox One owners to navigate and watch shows using voice commands. And this is why the Xbox One has won an Emmy Award. So I guess they were right to brag.
Usually it’s people that get these awards, but this time it is a console. Right? Not the same thing. The award was presented by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences at the 66th Annual Technology & Engineering Emmy Awards. The event was part of the Consumer Electronics Show 2015 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Xbox One has received an Emmy Award for Television Enhancement Devices. It was selected because of television-on-demand and media center features. Other nominees and recipients included Apple, Sony, Roku and TiVo. So Microsoft was in some good company. Microsoft says that it is “proud to be awarded this honor” by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
At least it is one area where this console pulled ahead from the PlayStation 4. Sony’s console has outperformed Xbox One in terms of sales, up till now with over 18.5 million units of the PlayStation 4 sold globally. Sony can’t have this win though.
