Even though it often upsets users, websites get redesigned and updated from time to time with new looks and improved navigational features. The idea is to make the viewer’s experience better, although I wonder how often that mission is actually accomplished. Amazon has been working on a new design since July of last year and it looks like the company has begun to roll out that new design to some users.
If you check Amazon right now, you may or may not notice the new design which has a dark and black bar at the top. Previously it was a white background with Amazon’s logo at the top left hand corner of the page. Strangely, I just looked again and the black bar is gone on the new design. I guess they are experimenting.
We don’t know how some users have been chosen for the new design since it doesn’t seem to be OS-specific or browser-specific. You’ll notice that the page also looks a lot more compact with more products and information on the front page. There is also a new drop down menu so visitors can go to the company’s Fire and Kindle product pages directly. We aren’t sure when everyone will have this new design.
