Are you still on the fence about subscribing to Amazon Prime at $99 a year? This might persuade you and make you give it a go now. The company has recently announced that Amazon Prime will now feature same-day delivery service to Prime subscribers.
Before this, Amazon Prime offered customers free two-day delivery and now to make it more enticing, it now has free same-day delivery. Not bad at all. Not to mention the other benefits they offer.
Not all orders will be eligible for this though. Right now about 1 million of Amazon’s products are available for the service which is just a fraction of the 20 million or so items being sold by the company. Orders will also have to be over $35 and these orders will need to be placed before noon in order to qualify for the free same-day delivery.
Also, the entire US will not be covered by this. Only 14 metro areas will be getting it, but that’s not a bad start. More will surely be added after a while. Amazon Prime’s VP Chris Rupp says, “We can get items closer to customers, get more items in stock and be able to deliver as quickly as possible.” Google and Walmart have recently started to trial and offer same-day delivery, so Amazon wants to compete of course.
