Amazon has announced that restaurant delivery on Prime Now is live in Austin. Now customers in that city can get one-hour delivery from local restaurants and food trucks, which includes some of the city’s favorites like Michi Ramen, Clay Pit, Chi’Lantro, Southside Flying Pizza and many more. This should excite locals in that area and I’m sure the service will be a hit.
Customers in Austin can use the Prime Now app to view participating restaurants and browse through the menus. The app can also be used to place orders and track the status of delivery. You can even track in real time as the driver drives from the restaurant to the deliver address. The best part is that Amazon guarantees that the order will be delivered in one hour or less. Now that is pretty convenient.
For the moment, restaurant delivery in Austin is limited to 15 zip codes in and around downtown Austin, but don’t worry, Amazon is going to expand the restaurant selection over the coming weeks. You can enter your zip code in the Prime Now app to see if the service is live in your area. If it is available in your area, you will see Restaurants on the home page.
Amazon promises transparent pricing with this service, so there are no menu markups or hidden delivery fees. You pay for food using the payment information you already have on file with Amazon. Delivery on all orders is free for a limited time, but once more people start using it, Amazon will likely start charging. So if you can, now is a good time to check it out.
