If you purchase a lot of products from Amazon it might be worth it to get an Amazon Prime subscription. For $99 per year, the company gives you free two-day shipping on millions of eligible items, plus you get access to its TV and music streaming service and cloud storage service.
Customers who don’t have a subscription and spend a set amount can also get free shipping, but now that amount has quietly been increased. It used to be that if you had $35 in the cart on checkout you would get free shipping on those items. The new threshold is $49. The cost of services never goes down after all.
However, if you order books, you get a break. If the order includes $25 worth of books then you’re going to get free shipping regardless of whether or not the entire order meets the $49 requirement. This news will only concern people who want to save a few bucks on shipping. If that is you, just make sure that you meet the requirement the next time you shop, or be prepared to pay extra for shipping.
Obviously Amazon is really trying to push more of its customers to get a Prime subscription and I’m sure this will help them to do just that.
